Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a cornerstone of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a holistic healing system that has been practiced for thousands of years. It involves the insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body, known as acupoints. These points are connected by pathways, called meridians, through which vital energy, or qi, flows.

Health Benefits

● Pain Management: Chronic pain, migraines, arthritis, fibromyalgia

● Stress and Anxiety: Insomnia, anxiety disorders, depression
● Digestive Disorders: Irritable bowel syndrome, indigestion, nausea

● Respiratory Conditions: Asthma, allergies, sinusitis, common colds

● Fertility: Improving fertility for both men and women
● Women's Health: Menstrual cramps, menopause symptoms, PMS

● Boost Immunity: Strengthen the body's defense mechanisms.

● Regulate Qi Flow: Balance the flow of qi, promoting overall health and well-being.

What does acupuncture feel like?

Is it painful?

  • Insertion Sensation: When the thin, sterile needles are inserted, you may feel a slight pinch or tingling sensation. This is often described as a quick, mild discomfort that fades almost immediately.

  • During Treatment: Once the needles are in place, most people feel little to no pain. Some report a mild heaviness, warmth, or tingling around the needle site, which is a sign that the energy (Qi) is being activated.

  • Relaxation: Many people find acupuncture deeply relaxing and even fall asleep during the session.

Why Acupuncture Isn’t Painful:

  • Needle Size: Acupuncture needles are extremely thin—about the width of a human hair—making them much finer than needles used for injections or blood draws.

  • Technique: Licensed acupuncturists are trained to insert needles gently and precisely, minimizing discomfort.

  • Individual Sensitivity: Pain tolerance varies from person to person, but most people find acupuncture to be far less uncomfortable than they expected.
